Evidently, the “scientific community” is having a garage sale. I put scientific community in quotes because, in reality what we see as the “scientific community” (see I did it again), is nothing more than an extension to special interest groups and mainstream media. I’m happy and flabbergasted (yes, I used that word) all at the same time here, so I’m not really sure where to start. This plays right into the whole concept of “sheeple”, where people flock, first in small groups, then as an entire population to concepts and ideas… usually because they can’t think for themselves. Those ideas become accepted, then backed by mainstream figure-heads, then eventually get cited as facts.

Let’s take “global warming” for instance. Okay, fine, there might be some symptoms that the earth is currently in a slight warming phase (which is not the first time this has happened), however, the pseudo-science that is driving government and the green movement to focus on changing the very fabric of our lives and costing us insane taxes is an EXTREME stretch of the actual scientific data behind the whole concept. The entire mess is steeped in political special interests, large corporation involvement and corruption.

“But wait”, says the hemp-wearing, left-wing nazi treehugger, “You must be a conspiracy theorist. Can’t you see all the nice, nerdy-looking scientists that are doing their job. They’re telling us that this is serious and that if we don’t act now, our children’s children won’t have an earth to enjoy.” Meanwhile, green movement poster-boy Gore is sitting down enjoying a nice juicy steak and living it up in a very environmentally naughty home. I guess Gore missed the memo that stated that livestock make up the majority of the greenhouse gas problem. Oh well. I guess that’s good for him, because recently, it was exposed that the IPCC was in a complete cover-up of global warming facts. Turns out “global warming” is shorthand for “Socialist Special-Interest Political Control and Finance Board”. Aw, shucks, I guess it wasn’t science after all.

Global Warming papers for sale, $5.

So, on to a more recent issue. For quite some time there has been a heated debate over the whole mercury/autism link. My more “alternative health” associates (some probably wearing hemp), insist that mercury, in the form of thimerosal, in several vaccines are the primary cause of autism. The medical community insists that there is no proof behind that accusation and that there is much “scientific” (there, I did it again) support that there is absolutely, no way, no how, zero, zilch, nada, zero evidence that shows any link between autism and mercury.

Okay, before I continue mocking, let’s look at what we know to be true. Fact #1, mercury is a toxic poison, even in extremely small doses. Fact #2, mercury is in some of our vaccinations, at levels that are hundreds of times beyond what has been deemed safe. (Sidenote: Is there really a safe level of a poison anyway???… I’m just sayin’.) Okay, now that we have two facts that I believe everyone is comfortable with (By the way, if you don’t believe me, eat a thermometer… You’re mental hospital doctor will thank you later.)… Meanwhile, parents all over the world and country, and the alternative health community, have been complaining of mercury’s link to autism for decades. Despite Jenny McCarthy’s bare-breasted escapades and her marrying a man with a rubber face, she has valiantly put herself out there as a spokesperson on this topic. She, having a child with autism (as do I) and having done LOTS of research, decided to treat her child for the supposed “mercury poisoning” due to vaccinations… and she got results, EXTREME results. So much so, that her son is like a completely different kid. People who don’t have autistic children cannot possibly understand the nuance and struggles that autism brings, and for those symptoms to go away????

“That is what is called coincidence.”, says the book-smart, volvo-driving (wait, I actually like volvos, but I need this for the stereotype), Phd bearing, expresso-chugging, condo-dwelling bloviator, “It could have been anything that caused her son to turn around. How do you know it was actual autism? Psychologists can be wrong sometimes. Maybe just the change in diet is what fixed him. Did an actual doctor help you with this? There is no scientific link between mercury and autism. Don’t you read the medical journals? Don’t you trust your doctor when he recommends vaccinations? It’s people like you that poison the minds of innocent people into thinking that vaccinations are wrong when they are saving so many lives!!!” Whoah…

Side note: One thing to be made clear is that it’s not the vaccination itself that is the problem in question. It’s the preservative thimerosal that is put into the vaccinations.

Okay, okay, so it must be a fact then. The smart guy said it. Not to mention the media and medical doctors are putting so much effort into making Jenny McCarthy look bad. Why would they go through that much effort if they weren’t right (I hope you are sensing the sarcasm). With so many supporters of vaccinations, I suppose the only thing that would prove thimerosal as bad would be for the entire “scientific” basis on which the supporting argument was based on to completely fall apart.

Enter Dr. Paul Thorsen, quack and extortionator, being paid by the CDC to support their claims. Well, he’s now disappeared, along with $2 million and it’s now being shown that his “work” is a fraud and a scam. Most of the work in this area was based on his “findings” which are now useless. It’s conspiracy turned fact. You just can’t make this stuff up.

Thimerosal research papers for sale, $7.

The history of “scientific” corruption goes way, way back. Yet for some reason, we continue to buy into it. We believe any “latest” study. Eggs are bad… no they’re good… no they’re bad… good… bad..good. AAAAARRRH!!! Don’t people recognize that the research and commercials that tels you that milk (containing hormones, blood, puss, etc…) is good for you are done by the American Dairy Association. Or that research on the questionable canola oil (coming from a normally poisonous plant) is done by the Canola Growers Association. Same thing with aspartame, MSG, etc…. The list of this kind of paid-for-science is HUGE! Now, I’m not saying that there isn’t some good research among all of this, but please at least be conscious as a consumer that most of the research done on the products you consume is done by the entity who is making the money.

Based on recent findings, here is my new “scientific” research:

Scientific Fact = 2 part money + 1 parts special interest + 200 million idiot gullible sheeple

Please, don’t be a sheeple.

What I find completely astounding, is that with so much political corruption (which has always existed, but especially in the last year), that our more conservative counterparts are not doing more, saying more… putting their foot down and blowing the whistle!

Well, Americans are sick of it. Yeah, okay, some of you aren’t… you’re blindly riding on the bandwagon screaming, “Yay, free health care!”, while the fabric of our freedom is slowly being shredded to bits. But for those of us who have our eyes wide open, this video is inspiring and I hope enough of the liberal politicians see it that they get nervous. They work for us, not the other way around.

But, honestly, I’m not completely sure how to feel about this issue. A couple in Wisconsin, Dale and Leilani Neumann, opted to use the power of prayer to treat their dying, diabetic child, rather than seek medical treatment. She died. The parents were sentenced to jail time. This isn’t too dissimilar from the Daniel Hauser case in which the mother rejected chemo for her son’s cancer.

More and more, the government is stepping in and saying, “If you can’t take care of your kids, we’ll force you to.” Now, agreeably, there are some sensitive issues at stake here, so in my mind at least, this is not a clear, black and white issue. Frankly, while I feel terrible for the children, my visceral reaction to this is that Big Brother needs to step back and allow the parents to be “parents”, a term which may be questionably applied in this case. But where do we draw the line?

For millennia, people have been using religious methods to heal. Those that use it swear by it. Those that don’t use it swear at those that do. Then there are those in between that use religious practices, but recognize that many healing substances (medical or natural) are also gifts from God and use them accordingly. The very foundation of this country is based on religious freedom. Do we really have religious freedom if there comes a point where Big Brother determines whether or not your religious practices are too kooky and decides to step in, and in some cases prosecuting you for following your beliefs?

Yes, there is a point in which religious practices may reach outside of your own inner circle of family and fellow believers and actually infringe upon the basic rights of others. But in this country, we are supposedly “guaranteed” the right to worship our desk stapler if we want to. Who’s to say that a man shouldn’t have the right to staple his forehead in the name of punishment from the Great Stapler God? A little whacked? Sure, but every religion is crazy to someone.

What about the Daniel Hauser case? Alternative medicine has been around MUCH longer than what we now deem as traditional medicine. There are over-trusting, ignorant, socialist quacks at both ends of the natural vs. medical debate, but there is a large part of the population that is recognizing that WE are responsible for our health and well-being. It is our responsibility to educate ourselves, sift through all the cruft, and make the tough decisions that we are “allowed” to make as citizens of a free country. How can we do that when a bunch of progressive “rebels looking for a cause” are always ready to enlist the government to override our choices?

When people have back trouble, some see their M.D., some see their chiropractor. But what about something more severe like cancer? There are huge, fundamental differences in how both sides of the spectrum see cancer. I’ve read material on both side and understand it. Regardless of the method, there is still a chance of death, or at least a limited lifestyle after treatment. Why then did Daniel’s mother become a criminal for refusing medical treatment? Was it because Big Brother thought the mother wasn’t a good enough parent? Was it because Big Brother supports the medical industry and actively suppresses alternative medicine? Was it because Big Brother thinks it has a more accurate belief system? Probably all of the above.

Americans should have the right to alternative healthcare. I don’t mean that we should create more poorly written laws to guarantee this right, but we should be able to use whatever form of healthcare our conscience, religion or understanding drive us to use. There are those that don’t have a conscience, religion, or understanding that will suffer the consequences of poor choices. However, that is the price we pay to ensure that all other Americans that have done their duty and their homework are allowed to care for themselves as they please. Our government is not intended to wipe our noses. It’s intended to guarantee us the continued right to wipe our OWN noses, if we so choose.

There are many of you that are probably thinking, “Yeah, but some of these parents are committing child abuse by how they deal with their kids health issues.” This is a tough concept to consider, even for me, but it’s not the government’s role to protect someone’s kids from treatment that you consider “abusive” unless that treatment infringes on their basic American rights. We’ve come to think this is their role because of all the frivolous laws being passed in the name of “American rights!” and because of the heavy hand the government body continues to place upon every facet of our lives. Read the constitution people!

I think most of us want to preserve our freedoms. I would guess that most of us understand that freedom is not free and is not easy to preserve. It’s likely that we recognize that freedom is worth whatever the cost needs to be to attain it. Likewise, sometimes we need to allow others to exercise that freedom however they see fit… even if their actions severely go against our ideals, morals, or sense of decency. THAT is being American.

Hmmm, I suppose I could end there, seeing how that last sentence has all the irony one could ask for in a blog topic and in the very reading of it, one can immediately see the problem with the statement. So, perhaps there isn’t much to explain. However, there are some things that I know are going to get lost in all the “Obama praising” that should be pointed out.

Okay, so lets see… Nobel Prize winners, you know, guys that are the likes of Einstein, actually accomplish something. They pour all their blood, sweat and tears into their life’s work and at some point, several years to several decades later, they receive the award because their work has changed the world in some great and unmistakable way. We applaud them for their efforts. This past week, there was an award given to the guy who invented fiber optics back in the 60′s. There was another award given to the two guys who invented the CCD (the components that are at the core of satellite imagery and modern digital cameras) back in the 60′s at Bell Labs. These are amazing accomplishments.

So, just for a second, lets think about this. Obama has been in office less than one year. His efforts, while his intentions may be seen by some as positive, have been to push his agenda as fast as he can so we don’t have the time to actually contemplate what’s going on. Meanwhile, there’s a spending frenzy, Cash for Clunkers has failed, he’s been an indecisive pansy that can’t decide whether he wants to win the war or have them over for tea, he’s been caught foot-in-mouth over countless issues, and his idea of “fundamental change” is to lead this country further and further down the socialist path. He’s not the first president to get a Nobel Peace Price… but at least give it time for the dust he’s stirring up to settle before deciding whether or not his efforts resulted in peace or not.

It was stated that one of the reasons he received the award was for continued “encouragement” in his international peace efforts. Mrs. Blackman, my 4th grade teacher, used to give me little stars on my papers for encouragement… but he gets a Nobel Peace Prize and $1.4 million. I can’t help but wonder if the Nobel awarding process was somehow tainted as a way to improve Obama’s rapidly falling approval rating. Or perhaps the Nobel awarding panel is really that ignorant. Either way, the Nobel Prize is off my list of what I consider to be an honorable award.

Perhaps this story will end a little like that of Fritz Haber. Doesn’t sound familiar? Maybe that’s because his work in chemistry (poisonous gases, explosives, etc…) and allegiance to Germany is what eventually led to the gassing of millions of Jews, including many of his own family (For those of you who still aren’t sure, yes, the Holocaust DID indeed happen). Ironically, Haber had received the 1918 Nobel Prize for chemistry. His work in nitrogen fertilizers (nitrogen fixing) is what allows our global society to create enough nitrogen (synthetic fertilizer) for our agricultural needs, without which we would have to solely rely on naturally occurring sources. What’s the big deal? Scientists speculate that millions of us could not even exist on this earth without this discovery because there would not be enough natural capacity to fertilize our crops if we were left to the limits of what nature provides.

So this once great man, with a strong allegiance to his country (German), saves millions of people with his discoveries, get a Nobel Prize, gets chased from his country, only to result in millions of people (including relatives) being slaughtered at the hands of his invention. Likewise, there will come a point where we will see this administration for what it really is. The dust will settle and the consequences will set in.

Frankly, Obama is a discount firecracker. His fuse as been burning and getting people all excited for what’s about to happen. Well, the fuse has fizzled out and people are disillusioned, still waiting for the BOOM! This Nobel Prize is just a failed attempt at blowing at the fuze, and all we’re left with is a dud. You can go home now people, the show is over. Move along now.

Our friends at Politico have uncovered an interesting story. David Axelrod had a private meeting with Fox News CEO Roger Ailes in Manhattan two weeks ago. Now what exactly was discussed is up for speculation, but when we consider that one of Axelrod’s responsibilities is the image of Obama and how the public view him, it doesn’t leave much room to speculate.

Fox News has the reputation of being on the right side of the political spectrum, while the Obama administration, though they claimed to be moderate, are on the far left of the spectrum. So when David meets with Roger to discuss the administration’s concerns with the image Fox News is portraying, it leads me to wonder if all of those “birthers, tea baggers, etc” might just be right with their claim that Obama and the administration are socialistic leaning.

I have asked myself when it would be necessary or proper for the White House to visit our media outlets to discuss what they are doing? Would it be proper for the administration to question news outlets when they are tainting the administration’s image? No, it would not be. Their right to speak their opinion is protected by the Constitution. How about when the media is discussing key issues that deal with the security of our nation? In this instance it is not only proper but necessary for the government to step in, but did they when the media was busy discussing what procedures our CIA operatives were using to extract information that saved American lives?

What I find most alarming about this instance, along with others (Fairness Doctrine), is that it reminds me a lot of current and past countries that eventually found themselves in a socialistic government, or worse, a dictator . The media is typically one of the first areas that is put under the control of the state when it is leaning towards a socialistic government. By eliminating the media, you enable the governing body to go largely unchecked by masses. One recent example would be Chavez, who after winning re-election took control of the media outlets that had criticized him and then moved to taking over other key industries.

We have recently seen how the media can bring people together to fight against the ills of the government, which is why it is important to have an unfettered media. A free and an unmolested media allows access to news that people might not otherwise have known. This access allows people to arrive at opinions for themselves. It is these opinions that affect they way we cast our vote. It is our votes that elect those in government. So in an indirect way, the media helps to promote a check and balance system within our government. When the current administration starts meeting with those outlets that help promote an opposing view point, I have to question the motives of the government.

I heard about and saw many accounts during the 2008 elections where Obama zealots were praising him, girls collapsing in his presence like they were at a Beatles concert, and several people talking about how he was going to save this country. Okay, so I can understand a little hype and a few isolated cases of Obama-mania. I understand how it’s easy for people to get emotionally involved in politics. But this following video is complete absurdity…

Did they really say “Deliver us Obama”? “Hear our cry, Obama”? Wow, I’m almost speechless…. almost. Now, I know this is an isolated group of fanatics, but last time I checked, Obama wasn’t qualified to answer prayers and deliver blessings from heaven. Chanting at The President? Does that not strike you as a bit cultish? To be fair, this kind of worship toward any non-deity is madness. I’ve had my share of run-ins with those that feel that “Bush could do no wrong.” They’re all politicians, people!

What kind of nonsense is this? This isn’t patriotism. This isn’t love of country or freedom. This is sheer ignorance, stupidity with a pinch of “do everything for me” sprinkled on top. Hmmmm.. we remove any mention of God from our culture, communities and schools only to be replaced with this? Maybe these acts of insanity aren’t mainstream, but is it any wonder why so many are now concerned about our country edging toward Socialism? Replacing love and faith in God for love and faith in big government is key to successful Socialism.

All this is before Obama was even in office. Even many conservatives were hopeful after his election. Now, his approval ratings are showing that perhaps this train we are on doesn’t have any brakes (I guess they weren’t earmarked in the stimulus package). Meanwhile his extremely high speed agenda keeps chuggin’ along. Next stop… health care?
